Exhibition catalogs serve to document and illuminate an artist’s work, offering insight into their process and biography. We were commissioned by François Ghebaly Gallery to design the catalogue for Kelly Akashi’s solo exhibition, Figure Shifter.

Kelly Akashi: Figure Shifter includes two key texts—an introduction by Gan Uyeda and an essay by Sarah Lehrer-Graiwer. Uyeda highlights Akashi’s evolving relationship with materials, while Lehrer-Graiwer’s essay guides readers through the exhibition’s 13 sections, delving into the artist’s motivations. For each section, we designed a title page, with images forming a spiral—a nod to the exhibition design, reflecting the dynamic, shifting nature of Akashi’s work.
